Samsung E60 eReader

What is it?
The Samsung E60 eReader is a digital book reader, the first from Samsung to hit America. The E60 will most likely join many others using the Barnes and Noble eBook store to get books.

What it has?
- 6” E-ink display (600×800)
- 8-Gray scale adjustments
- e-pub, PDF/a, TXT, bmp and jpg formats
- Built-in front speakers and head-phone jack
- Samsung’s text-to-speech (TTS) technology
- MP3 player
- WiFi (802.11 b/g)
- Bluetooth 2.0 (share contents between Samsung eReaders)
- 2GB of internal memory
- MicroSD card slot (up to 16GB)

What it needs?
Overall, this eBook reader is pretty good, comes with expandable memory and supports a variety of formats. It would be more attractive with WiMAX and web surfing like the Kindle.

iRiver D1000 e-Dictionary

What is it?
iRiver may call this device an “e-Dictionary”, but the D1000 is really more of a media player with a physical keyboard. The feature list is better than any Zune or iPod out there and of course you get a dictionary!

What it has?
- 802.11b/g WiFi
- Built-in web browsing
- 720p HD video playback
- 4.3-inch TFT LCD touch screen
- 8GB or 16GB internal memory with microSD slot
- T-DMB TV tuner
- Flash 3.0 support
- 140.2 x 81.2 x 17.6 mm at 237.8 grams
- Plays most media formats and reads MS Office documents

What it needs?
iRiver or any media player manufacturers beside’s Apple usually throw everything but the kitchen sink into a device, so it is disappointing to see that it does not have WiMAX and a full Operation System inside.

Hanvon TouchPad BC10C and BA10E Tablets

What is it?
The Hanvon TouchPad BC10C and BA10E are tablet PCs; so by nature it does what most other personal computers do, except in a keyboard-less and ultra portable body. In other words, it is what the Apple iPad should have been.

What it has?
- BC10C / BA10E
- CPU: 1.3GHz Intel Celeron ULV743 / 1.6GHz Intel Atom
- GPU: Mobile Intel 4 Series / Intel GMA500
- SDRAM: 2GB DDR2 / 1GB DDR2
- HDD: 250GB / 120GB
- Multi-touch 10.1″ LED Backlight Screen at 1024 x 600dpi
- Body is made from aluminum, carbon fiber, and plastic
- Camera: 2.0MP / 1.3MP
- Windows 7 Home Premium
- WiFi & Bluetooth
- 253 x 168 x 18.4 mm / 243 x 183 x 14 mm

What it needs?
This will be tough to answer. Software-wise, there is not much to complain because these tablets are running Windows 7, so you can install any software you need (reads: Amazon Kindle PC Software).

Hardware-wise, if Hanvon can squeeze Intel Core 2 Duo and a WiMAX receiver into this baby, I don’t see why anyone would be crazy enough to buy an Apple iPad!!

Give it Android 2.1 or Windows 7 Mobile and add in support for Opera Mobile and we have a deal!!
